All you need is the right drill bit. Go to the hardware store and get a tile or masonary bit, get a few cheap tiles, go home and practice. It's easy once you try it.
Sometimes they make chips or spew a little sand; wear some goggles.

Buy yourself a masonary bit and use that. We've drilled through tile without any problems.

you must absolutely use a masonry drill. It is a drill made especially for cement, tile, etc. If you use anything else, you'll break or crack it.

Its so easy you won't believe it ..........don't drill through your tiles, just drill through the grout; that's the filler material (cement, putty, whatever might have been used) you see in-between the tiles. Good luck, I've always done this and it always works!
