You can view manuals for Open Office in a .pdf or .sxw - I've included links for you to look at. The first is the page with a list of various documentations and the second is to a pdf file for the Open Office 2.x User Guide.

I believe there is an on-line manual, but in general if you are familiar with the equivalent Microsoft Office® program, you will be able to work with the Open Office equivalent.

Don't be afraid to read the "Help" files.

It is very much the same as MS office programs ,use as such.
