I am in the process of dropping major weight for health and lifestyle reasons, I am 6'5", male, used to be 310, now down to 260 with a goal of 215-220. My fat used to be firm and not be so squishy like. Now that i have lost some weight it is very pliable and a different viscosity than before, has anyone else expierenced this? Is it normal?

I would say it is because your skin is no longer as tight as it was when you were at your height of your weight.

As you lose the weight, your skins capacity it once knew is reduced, but the skin its self has lost its elasticity due to being stretched to the size it is currently. now I suppose it is possible it will reduce its size some over time, there are also the surgeries that can tighten it, but I don't know how that part of it would work.

Its great you are losing weight though, congrats!

There's a difference between losing weight and being more firm.
You should not only consider your waist size and how much you weigh but also what your % of body fat is. You can get this measured electronically at a gym.
You could be losing weight but also losing muscle.
Be careful how many calories you're not eating and how much weigh lifting you're doing. You need to do several things well to be successful in being fit...eating the right foods... eating the right amount of the right foods... doing cardio exercises and doing weight lifting exercises. All this will help you do a better job than the great job you've done so far.

Its your skin that is looser because it's empty of the fat...or emptying...you need to exercise and tone...but sometimes especially as you age, your skin never really quite tightens up like in the good old days of being a teen or in your 20s which is why you see these older women going for tummy tucks especially thanks to having babies, gaining weight and then losing it, often they're left with this chunk of overhanging loose flab no exercise will cure and the only option to get rid of it is get a good foot of skin cut out and tummies tightened and stitched to be flat again...ouch. I can't imagine being first in line volunteering for that.

Likely though you are still young enough and in a good position to turn fat into muscle and tighten up so try weights and try and tone up and keep up the good work.

Ur skin will have tightened when u gained weight and now your losing weight your skin is loosening from the weight loss. Its absolutely normal but an idea would be to tone up that loose skin if you can by going to the gym etc, thats what i did once and it made a big difference.

Well done on the weight loss by the way.

You've lost 50 pounds? WOW!!! Congratulations!!!!
Are you sure it's the fat that is "squishier"? It could just be excess skin. When you lose a lot of weight quickly, it takes the skin time to shrink as it has been stretched by all the fat underneath it.

the fat just seemed more squishy it was because your skin was tighter. Now that you are losing weight the skin is looser also. If you ha vent been start working out some.

I think most of these answers are correct...See, when we gain weight, we do not gain fat cells, the cells simply get bigger. It is the same with muscle cells, the stronger you are, the bigger the cells. So, when you lose weight, the cells shrink, but your skin does not shrink as fast. If you keep the weight off, and get enough exercise to keep a good muscle tone, you skin will shrink. Congrats on the weight loss!

That's absolutely wonderful! I hope you reach your goal.

The extra, stretched skin around the fat may be creating a different texture. I don't really have a sure answer... Just wanted to say how great it is to see someone making such progress.

you need to start exercising now! to firm up fat you need to do some crunches for the waist, tummy, hips then some regurlar warm up exercises for the rest , start to walk for at least 1/2 hour a day more if you can. other wise your squishy fat will turn into hanging fat
