Not that I'm thinking of any one in particular or anything.

It would all depend on which version of God he built his beilef system around. Look at the President of Iran......He's a political leader who feels he's got a hotline to his version of God. Ahmeddinajad (spelling I know!) is one CRAZY dude....thinking he can provoke Islamic Armagedon. I cannot imagine there are really that many Muslims who take him seriously.

If a politician says he has been chosen by God

watch him very very very carefully.

And if he says that God says that war is necessary - run the other way.
Human beings may think war is necessary. God, however, made everyone on both sides of the war. I have to believe that given the choice between war and no war, God is pretty much always going to choose no war.

God is the God of creation.

Seeing that there will be a war to end all wars upon Jesus' return, I'm guessing that God is not totally against war. He even used war in many cases in the old testament which also contains prophecies regarding Armageddon which will occur in times to come. So, after much prayer as I did with our elected president I did support him and still do.

I would consider that it might or might not be true but I wouldn't support such a politician on that basis.

Romans 13:1 Let every soul submit to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God. 2 Consequently the one resisting the authority has opposed the ordinance of God, and those opposing shall receive judgment to themselves. 3 For rulers are not a fear to good works, but to evil. And do you wish not to fear the authority? Do what is good, and you shall have praise from the same. 4 For he is God's servant to you for good. But if you do evil, fear; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's servant, an avenger for wrath to the one practicing evil.

Jeremiah 49:20 Therefore hear the plan that the LORD has made against Edom and the purposes that he has formed against the inhabitants of Teman: Even the little ones of the flock shall be dragged away. Surely their fold shall be appalled at their fate. 21 At the sound of their fall the earth shall tremble; the sound of their cry shall be heard at the Red Sea. 22 Behold, one shall mount up and fly swiftly like an eagle and spread his wings against Bozrah, and the heart of the warriors of Edom shall be in that day like the heart of a woman in her birth pains."

Anything with the government requires documentation. If the politician has orders signed by God, and the signature was witnessed by trusted justices, of course I would support him.
On the other hand, if he talks into the air, and claims he's getting an answer, the answer is directly from his imagination.
Isn't it strange that all those who get orders from God get exactly the orders that they wanted anyway ?

No, Someone who claims to be chosen by God is rarely actually chosen by God. It would take a lot of convincing and I would never support violence.

All politicians tell lies but claiming you were chosen by God is one of the biggest.

Don't all politicians say that? War is necessary to check evil.

War IS necessary... And "...is upon you whether you'd risk it or not..." BUT...! The "weapon" of a Christian is love... That's the ONLY way God will prevail in the end...! "Don't be overcome with evil but overcome evil with good..." - Romans 12:21

The ONLY "good" that overcomes evil is LOVE...
