I know I shouldnt give meds without it being prescribed to them but i am short on money right now and I know this worked great for her. she is about 85lbs and he is 26lbs. Please serious answers.

doctor now
if she has a reaction to the cough syrup it will cost you a lot more in ambulance and hospital costs
find a free clinic if you can't afford a doctor
NEVER GIVE ANYONE someone else's meds especially a young child
how do you know it is not pneumonia? and not just a bad cold

coughing is a bodies natural way of getting rid of what it doesnt want. Let nature take its course and just do the old fashioned stuff (works as well as anything) and give liquids, juice and water, mild tea with honey (if baby will drink). Stay away from milk products while baby is congested as these will just make it worse. If the baby is not better in a couple of days you may consider going to the doctor or at least call and explain its a money thing. maybe they can suggest something inexpensive or give the go ahead with the medicine you have at a proper dose. Dont just assume its okay for baby.
Plenty of liquids surely cant hurt. Keep baby hydrated and time should do the rest.

We have 2 boys 17 months apart and we have swapped meds because they would each get the same infections at different times, usually 2 weeks from each other. I would give your son 1/2 teaspoon every 6 hours. Make sure meds are not expired for more than 7 days.

Trust me...when my little baby brother was sick my mother told me some very valuable tips. Don't give the baby anything. The first thing you have to do is take it to the doctor. The doctor will tell you if it is okay to give it the medicine and if not she/he will give you the right stuff to use. Don't make the mistake of giving the baby too much medicine. It could result in something horrible! Be CAREFUL! The baby is so much smaller than your daughter. I understand your current money situation but, you really nead to consult a doctor. Don't do something you'll regret!

call the doctor or pharmacist. don't give it to him unless you know for sure. he's a lot smaller than your daughter. you don't want to have to call poison control.
