could it be that in the light of recent genetic revelation that one of these specific fossils found as a bone was determined not to be of our species and yet they continue to promote that it is an ancestor which it is not. At this time in history it has become non-scientific to continue the theory of verticle evolution. While there is adaptation within each species there is no evidence of species changing in an ever advancing mode thus creating verticle changes that result in advancement of a species. Since there is no evidence (we have been looking for some time) and such things as world calamities and catastrophies that would wipe out whole kingdoms of life forms, it is now reasonable to assume no such thing as verticle evolution ever happened so why perpetuate a myth that has no more credibility than a fairy tale. Then as well there are among our most ancient writting evidence that it happened differantly, like perhaps intelligent design. My opinion, teach science that has been proven beyond a doubt and let those in research play with the rest until they have proved it. No need to continue the practice of teaching bad science to people, when we have more good science than any of us could possibly learn. We are going through a period where this sacred cow of verticle evolution is being perpetuated because people just do not want their lifes work to be for naught. Leakey being the prime example.

If you want to saddle up a dead horse I have no problem with that but to teach people who need a ride to buy groceries that this is a good idea, well I understand some wanting it stopped.

"Our doctrine is not that we evolved from apes, and we have grave concerns that the museum wants to enhance the prominence of something presented as fact which is just one theory,"-Bishop Bonifes Adoyo

Wow, this is stupid. A theory is a hypothesis with evidence to back it up. Oh, look! Some evidence of evolution! Lets suppress it.

When all else fails and evidence disproves your mythology, the only solution is to destroy it or keep it from being known. This is christianity in it's most common form. Welcome to the New Dark Ages.

"The Christian community here is very uncomfortable that Leakey and his group want their theories presented as fact," said Bishop Bonifes Adoyo, head of the largest Pentecostal church in Kenya, the Christ is the Answer Ministries."

Well, they are uncomfortable with facts. Lets pretend there are no facts and go back to praying to the sky-god.

Oh boy, some scientists (the government may have a place in this) are hiding fossils as well but you'll have to wait later to find out more about this from me

I have no clue. Doesn't seem like a bright idea really. If it's not true, as they believe, then they do not need to hide anything. Seems like they don't think their faith or beliefs can stand on their own and that is sad.
