If you get denied for credit, the agency involved HAS to by law provide you with a free copy of the info used. BUT, you are better to pay for an account, maybe $10 or so, with any major agency that gives you all three major reports. BECAUSE, you can then use that same account to challenge your credit report. Anything negative should be challenged. If they can't prove it should be in the report they have to remove it. Some won't still have the record, even after only a year or so, some just won't care enough to do it!! Read through their agreement, but I think Experian has this capability!

You can get a free credit report, but not a free credit score. You have to pay for that. Go to myFico.com if you want to get your credit score from the 3 credit bureaus.

#1,

Sign up for a card with Washington Mutual. They offer free, 24/7 access to your credit score for a year.

Go to annualcredit report.com.

You can get a free report from each of the three credit bureaus annually. I suggest getting a report from each bureau every 4 months so that you can check your credit report three times a year for free.
