i babysit a little girl who is an exact year older than my son. she is the same height as my son which is 36 in. (i know my son is tall but she just seems so small). she also only weighs 22 pounds. is this normal. her mother is younger and doesn't feed her well. when she comes here she won't eat veggies, fruit, meat or anything really good. i did just get her to start eating peaches. her teeth are kind of gross and she doesn't know much for her age. she doesn't talk very clear either. i just need to know if this is normal. she goes to the doc. but he must not say anything about her weight or what she eats. i am just kind of worried about her and always have been. she also clings to everyone, even if they don't know who they are. she cries when they leave. she also cries over everything!! even when i comb her hair. her mother hardly ever combs her hair when she comes here. please give me some advice on what i can do for her. or what anyone else thinks about her size and different issues

my son is 18 months and he weighs 30 pounds. i know this is big, both of my kids were big and still are tall and off the charts. i am just wondering about kids that might not be as large as mine :) she also didn't start putting words together till she was about two. i just don't know what to do. i feel bad for her. i am always giving her mother clothes and buying stuff for her even though i have my own two to get stuff for. i just want to make sure she is taken care of.

ok, her mother is 22. the dad has nothing to do with the baby and the fathers mother is really scary and i have heard the mother say that she does drugs. my dad even said that the house the grandmother lives in is the "drug house" in the town he works and there are only about 300 people in that town. i just don't feel comfortable saying anything so i try not to take many days off and if i have to i take her with me so she doesn't have to go anywhere that isn't safe.

Kids differ! My son is also, 2-1/2. He weighs 26lbs. and is 39" tall. He eats like a horse, his father and I are both heavy, you would think he would be heavier but he is just meant to be tiny I guess. If you are seriously concerned about this child you should bring it up to the mother, sounds like maybe this little mom is also a single mom, maybe she just needs a little advice and help. You may upset her and loose her but atleast she heard your concerns.

One thing to consider, was this child premature at birth? Does she have any medical condition keeping her from gaining properly? The child sounds a bit on the small side to me but it sounds like there may be more there then just a small underweight child. Is the child ever bruised? Does she seem to responde well to her own mother? To answer the question on what a 2 1/2 year old child should weigh, my own sons are twins, almost 2 1/2 and last DR appointment they weighed 29.5lbs and 31lbs, they were 4lbs at birth and are just now in the 50% for weight. Some children just are smaller framed, petite, some are larger, chunkier, slim....but if you say the child doesnt eat well, that would explain her being underweight. Good luck and i hope this child is just a small petite little girl and nothing else major is going on!!

I wouldn't be too extremely concerned about her weight if there weren't all the other issues you've mentioned...sounds like she might be on the neglected side...how young is her mother?? If you don't feel comfortable reporting any of this to the authorities, I'd say do as much for her as you can...like brushing her teeth, and hair (as you already mentioned you do...), maybe bathe her...If you are comfortable enough talking to her mother, maybe see if you can get her to come around and start taking better care of her baby...if that doesn't work, you really should consider turning it over to child services, as hard as that may be. Best of luck to you!

My daughter will be 3 in Feb and is 30 lbs. This child needs some help. Maybe you should call social services. There is more going on then just weight. Call social services and leave it to the professionals.

the 1st element you will desire to do is to settle for that your 6yrold rott. is fat and risky. think of of your dogs as a 200lb guy or woman. thats very vast and risky, M u.s. DO : bypass time table a appointment with a animal wellbeing care provider at a sturdy facilty animal health center. the vet will make a healthful eating habitual and excercise plan on your gorgeous rott to a sturdy weight.
