I would assume that you can take that on board with you as it isn't liquid. Your best bet though is to go right to the source the TSA http://www.tsa.gov/ they set the regulations of what you can and can not bring on the aircraft with you. They have a complete list of the items that are not allowed as well as details on how you should pack your carry on luggage.
Have a great flight!

Yes. It isn't a liquid, isn't metal. The first thing that could happen is if it shows up as an unknown, in which case you could offer to eat a piece (yum!). If it's a small enough amount like up to two pounds, wear a coat with large pockets and carry it through the metal detector. If it's a large amount, why bother with carry on? Pack it in checked luggage. The second thing that could happen is entering another country. Make sure they allow it.
For getting ON the plane with it, the best thing to do is contact the TSA (Transport Security Administration) or visit their site at www.tsa.gov/

depends to where you live and where you are flying to. many countries dont allow animal produce as deer jerky, unless it is professionaly manufactured and is purchased from a supermarket. it will depend on the destinations and what laws they have in place. best to contact customs in your own country and ask them. good luck
