I'm trying to install some software for my wireless PCI card. I can run the setup.exe file on my laptop and it works fine... but I dont need it on my laptop. On my desktop when I go to execute the .exe file it just opens a DOS window for a quick second and closes it and that's it. It does not execute the file. Why is this? What do I have to do to execute that file?

By the way, it's on a new installation of Windows XP Pro.

I'm not talkin' about the executable zip... I can unzip it, it's just the files inside it will not work.

I tried to run in DOS but it says program is too big for the memory... And you see the size of this file, I dont get it.

I just need this to execute.

Oh, and by the way, I'm running both XP pro on both laptop and desktop.

it's an executable zip file... (I guess) try to open it in your favorite unzipper... or see if it made files next to it(on the desk top or whereever it was)

If it's indeed just software (and not a device driver) try right clicking on the file name and a menu will appear.
Then click "properties" on the menu. Then click on the "compatibility" tab. Now select whatever operating system you use on your laptop (probably will be either win98/me or windows 2000).

Another possibility is that the software you are installing is a driver for the operating system your laptop is under which is different than XP pro. In that case just look up the PCI card manufacturer's web site and download the Win XP Pro version of the driver.

Good luck....

try opening up the "command prompt" window, you can type "cmd" under "run". navigate to the folder where your setup.exe is, and try to execute it by typing "setup"

observe for error messages
