At the dentist, do they sterilize all the equipment they use for dental procedures?

At my dentist they pull all of the equipment tips out of sterilized packages for each patient. If you see masking tape with diagonal black stripes, you know that package is sterile.

duh! my little brother had a big spinter in his foot and they had to sterilize it before and after we removed it
