I wash my hair every day but I always have dandruff and my hair is always oily. I don't want to switch shampoos, so what can I do to wash my hair better? I try scrubbing my scalp but I think some shampoo doesn't get washed out and that could be causing it...

If you're not getting shampoo out, that can definitely cause it. Also, some houses, locations and even genes are prone to dry skin. It's not dandruff per se, but just dry skin, I think a lot of people have a misconception about dry skin and dandruff. But as stated before, make sure you get the shampoo out of your hair, that'll definitely cause the oilyness and create stickiness on your scalp.

Dandruff is caused by a dry scalp, and the best way to fix that problem is easy, buy a dandruff shampoo! You can buy a good dandruff shampoo for cheap, too, but if you don't want to switch shampoos, my best advice is this. Your case of dandruff is because you overwash your hair. You are overwashing your hair, drying it out and making it all stressed out! Try showering every other day. When you start this regimen out at first, your hair may be a little bit greasy, but thats good! Your scalp is producing oil, which is moisturizing your hair! After following this routine, your hair will not be so oily or greasy on your "non-showering" days. It is actually very bad for your hair to wash it everyday, and the longer you can go without washing your hair and having it look decent, the healthier your hair will be. Its not good to wash your hair everyday! Lastly, don't think that you will get lice form not washing your hair everyday, because believe it or not, it is a fact that lice prefer clean hair over dirty! Lice actually HATE dirty hair. P.S. Not to freak you out or anything, but maybe those little white flakes in your hair aren't dandruff flakes, they're lice.

Well, Head&Shoulders is pretty much the only way to rid your scalp of dandruff effectively. If your hair tends to be oily, keep conditioner away from it and use a lemon (sliced in half) and rub it on your hair. This will get rid of the oils and grease. Usually leftover shampoo and conditioner will make flakes on your scalp, so rinse your shampoo out really well with COLD water and same with the conditioner. Use very little of it. Scrubbing your scalp will only make things worse. Try out head&shoulders. I guarantee it will work, with very little conditioner and lemon juice.

For starters you probably need to switch shampoos and try switching back and forth between a couple. Only use a good dandruff shampoo once a week, because if you use too often, it fools your scalp into producing more. also don't scrub as hard, try massaging with your fingers, or if you have long nails like me, use your knuckles to massage.

If you have dandruff you need to switch shampoos, at least a few times a week, to a dandruff shampoo that will help with both the dandruff and the oil buildup.

if you really don't wanna switch shampoos, then just do your normal routine, and then when you get out of the shower, use a cup and pour warm water on your head a few times to help get the soap out better. if that doesn't help, then i might recommend that you start conditioning your hair... it should help get rid of that oily build up.
