Yes, I have and have been through the surgery for it (the one with open healing.....never agin!!). I broke my tailbone when I was about 12 and since then have had some problems with it...The worst flare-ups I've had were during pregnancy: once at about 10 weeks, and again around 34 weeks...I was told that surgery was my best option and when my baby was just over a month old, I was taken into the OR and given an open excision. I was told healing time, because it was so large and is made to heal so slowly, would be about 8 months...it took about 15...!!! (had the surgery in sept 03, was more than halfway healed by christmas, then became allergic/very sensitive to the medical packing, so had to do dry packing, then became infected a few times...so finally closed up completely at about christmas of 04!! btw, my scar looks awful!!) To be honest, I wish I'd just left the bloody thing alone, as it's come back...The best thing I've found for it is to soak a couple times a month in sea salt/epsom salt (dead sea salts seem to work best), but have heard that, if you have an open sinus, that using a watery solution of cayenne pepper(!!) in a dropper (then shot into the hole and drained until it no longer burns...oww!) has a wonderful affect...however, mine doesn't constantly drain...only opens sometimes and drains, then closes back up. However, my tail bone area hurts most of the time, especially if I don't do my salty baths.
