make a beef stock with the bouillion cubes, (follow instructions on packet, or 1 pint of boiling water to one cube seems to be the norm)
for the perfect beef gravy:
2 finely diced shallots
1 finely diced carrot
1 finely diced celery stick
1 clove of garlic, diced
sweat all the veggies in a pan over a low heat with a tbsp of oil , until soft. add 1 tbsp of flour, and cook out for 5 mins. deglaze the pan with 1 glass of red wine (omit if you dont drink alcohol, although it will affect the flavour of your dauce) and boil until reduced by 2 thirds. add 1 pint of beef stock, and reduce by 2 thirds again. use cornflour to adjust the consistency of your sacue, then pass through a fine sieve to remove all the veggies!

Okay, if you don't have drippings to start with, pour a little oil in the pan and let it heat while you mush up your boullion cube into a little warm water and add that to the pan. Keep the heat gentle at this point because adding liquid to hot oil will cause spatters and you don't want that. Then put a couple of spoonsful of flour and a pinch of salt in a container with a tight fitting lid. Add cold water and shake until there are no lumps left.
Now turn up the heat under the pan where your oil and boullion cube mixture is simmering, add the flour/water mix and stir continuously as it thickens. If it's starting to get too thick, add some hot water from the kettle. Continue stirring until gravy has the desired consistency. It won't be a rich, dark brown gravy, but it will be tasty and it's easy, easy.

This is real easy and not salty like beef boullion or beef granules:
3 tbsp flour
4 tbsp butter
Melt butter in pan over low heat. Stir in flour until smooth. Slowly add one 15 ounce can of beef stock ( I use Swansons or College Inn Beef Broth) Do Not use concentrated beef stock unless you also add 1 can water. Mix until smooth. Raise heat to medium high and stir until thickened. Season with black pepper and maybe a little salt if you think you might want it a little saltier.

Beef Gravy
6 T butter
6 T flour
3 beef bullion cubes
2 cups milk
1/2 cup water
In a sauce pan melt butter and add flour. When this is hot and bubbly and well mixed add bullion cubes, milk and water. Stir over medium high heat until thick and bubbly. Let cook for about 3 minutes.

Just mix some flour with cookin oil until it brown (on med heat); then add the amt of water you want in it (slowly); then add your boullion, as it start to boil, stir and let it thicken to your satisfaction.

Make a rue...flour and butter in a pan. Dissolve the cubes and add to the rue and cook until desired thickness.
