What idiot told you that?? No, in fact some dogs don't like to be pet on top of their heads, period. Dogs would much rather you stroke their chests, or under their chins, especially if you are a stranger to them.

NO. In fact it most dogs don't like it. Think about it would you like someone banging on the top of your head?!?

If you want to show praise or pet a dog, do just that talk to it and stroke the dog or give it a rub..don't bang it on the head though none of these appriopriate actions should give the dog an orgasmic feeling..what would would be something you shouldn't be doing with your dog.

No, generally speaking dogs don't like to be petted on top of the head, at least not as an initial contact.

Part of the reason is that dogs can't see what you're doing, nor can they defend themselves if you attack them from that angle.

Part of the reason is that this is a sign of dominance in doggie body language.

Are you crazy?! Sorry, sudden outburst. But, anyway, some dogs absolutely hate to be petted on the head, but others love it. Most dogs love to be scratched behind the ears, have their belly rubbed, or hugged (but not around the neck, otherwise they get a panic signal and attack). So, hope you enjoy my advice!

Whatever book you are reading...... throw it away!

Alot of dogs don't like being pet on top of their heads. That's why they tell you when you pet a dog it's best to come from under their chin.

I don't know about that, I asked my dog Jawsie, but when I pat her on top of the head all she does is drool and blink.

no, but but when you get in their face and rub their head, you put yourself more on their level, more like a playmate, dogs have large nerve bundles around their ears, so a good ear rub is usually quite welcome, but I don't think its orgasmic, its like a good back scratching to a person
