Thanks for the answers about petfinder, unfortunately i'm in the uk and we don't seem to have such a useful service available to us. I have two cats from a local shelter, but have fond memories of my grandmother's Maine Coon

Google maine coon breeders. It would be better to find one in your state as many don't like shipping animals. Be aware that breeders have strict regulations (some even require home visits to make sure your home is suitable) as to who buys their cats and often have waiting lists for kittens up to 5 or 6 litters ahead. Sometimes they have retired breeders they are looking to place as pets. Have you considered adopting a Maine Coon mix from a shelter? They often have the same characteristics as the purebreds and are in dire need of a home. Look on www.petfinder.com and list Maine Coon as your breed of choice. I have a beautiful MC mix I adopted from the local pound. She is the world to me! Good luck!

Maine Coons are soooo cool! They're very affectionate and loveable. Please make sure to brush it on a daily basis. These cats are so furry. They have a top coat and an undercoat. The undercoat can get matted easily if not groomed on a regular basis. Also make sure to give him something for furballs since he's so furry. You can either buy some flavored petrolium jelly at the pet store to put on his front paws or just put a little dab of vaseline on them about once a week. Main Coons are prone to intestinal blockages from fur so it's very important to groom him. Have fun with him!!
