This how my 3 children stay healthy and in shape...
Allow your child 3 full meals plus 2 snacks per day (mid morning and at night snack)
Children are suppose to spend at least 30 minutes outside a day, weather permitting of course.
For every 1/2 hour that's spent reading a book 15 minutes are allowed on a computer/video game
Children need "jobs" that are their very own , such as taking out the trash, putting dishes away...this teaches them some work ethics and responsibility
Most important parents need to watch what they do, say and eat around children, this is who they are learning from.

By encouraging children to get active and not play video games all day. Also, limit fast food and junk food. If adults would teach children to eat tproperlyfrom an early age and participate in sports or other physical activities obesity would cease to be a problem.

Educate parents on what to feed their children, as most parents don't know what is healthy.

Not to mention the FDA? just finally redid the food pyramid after what...30-40 years? The staple on it previously was like 10 servings of bread/grains a day? Are you ******* kidding?

And of course one big thing is price. Healthy foods need to come down in price. A loaf of Wonder bread is what $1.29 to where a loaf of really grainy healthy bread is $3.99+. Processed slice cheese is much cheaper than some fresh natural deli provologne or swiss. The same thing for meats. A 10 pack of gummy fruit snacks are on sale for .99c while 10 apples or bananas will cost you $2-3.

What is with all of these stupid questions? Are people doing some sort of moronic elementary school project and need some ideas? There are only fat kids in North America. They barely exist elsewhere in the world. Sure, in places like Japan, people are eating more American foods, and thus getting fatter and dying younger, but mostly people are not fat. I'm certain that the majority of the population in the world are malnourished and someone wants to know how to cure fat kids in rich countries. It's really crazy. Answer: send your kids to some poor country for a year to live as the people there do. They'll come back skinny, if they come back at all.

The parents are to blame. They are ignorant, and push their ignorance onto the children. The cupboards are filled with cookies and cereals to keep the kids from throwing temper tantrums when they don't get what the TV commercials are selling. Boo-hoo, save the fatties from exploding.

These questions should be NUKED!

Easy. STOP TAKING YOUR KIDS TO MCDONALDS PEOPLE. Read "Fast Food Nation". It explains a lot and is 100% accurate. A lot of critics of the book have only bitched about how it's not true, but haven't provided any information to prove Eric Schossler (the author) otherwise. He explains how the majority of advertising, especially from places like mcdonalds and other fast food restaurants target children. People are eating less and less at home and more at greasy burger joints. I couldn't agree more with Schossler's point of view. Stop giving your one yr olds soda and feeding your children fast food just because you are too lazy to cook. There are plenty of easy healthier alternatives. Your kids might be angry with you for not getting them their beloved happy meals, but they will appreciate it 40 years later when they're not morbidly obese, diabetic, with atrociously high blood pressure.

sue mcdonalds into bankruptcy. Seriously we have to stop feeding out children so much junk food and get them outside and back to playing sports instead of playing video games during all of their free time. Children have to start eating healthy and the parents can't always blame fast food restaurants because the parents have to take responsibility. Take family walks or bike rides and you can always get some friends together and play flag football or something.

Teach children proper diet and exercise from day one. The best resource for this info is Dr. Ray Strand "Releasing Fat" - it is an amazing book about obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrom and degenerative disease prevention.
