i am married to a canadian but know something about us immigration. my ex came to the usa as have many friends.

first if you work for a nafta relate busines you can get in. look for the NAFTA info on the net and go to www.canada.gc.ca the govt of canada site to learn more.

also for us immigration you can only get in by sponsorship via employer, student visa and possibly then turn to a perm app. marry and being sponsored by a spouse or be a qualifying family member of a us perm res or citizen.

go to www.uscis.gov for the info this is us immigration and then to www. state.gov for more info for your nation. see canada or www.travel.state.gov for visa info. you can stay in the us for six months with a canadian passport. try to find a job and get a work permit.

america welcome s all legal immigrant not the illegals.

i will be happy to help you find more answers. here is the NAFTA info
http://www.amcits.com/nafta.asp from the us http://www.export.gov/fta/Country/NAFTA/index.asp?dName=NAFTA
and from canada

As a Canadian you can stay in the US for 6 months without a VISA, which is how the snowbirds come down each and every year. Now if you want to come down and stay forever and work that is another story. Depending on your job skills you may qualify under NAFTA, but you will have to have a job first.

glad to have u.canada is lovely,but,yes-a bit cold!have u looked around miami and really researched it,though?there is a lot of crime there,it is humid all year long and particularly sweltering and sticky in a summer that never seems to end.not to mention florida's penchant for hurricanes.my aunt moved there, only to find herself living in a tent city shortly thereafter-after the florida coast was battered by several hurricanes in a row.(2 years ago).im not trying to discourage ujust because one person doesnt care for a place, doesnt mean the next person might find it a paradise.im just saying, there are many other soiuthern,or southwestern cities, that have a more temperate, liveable climate-warm but not hideously so,and not as much in harms way,hurricane-wise.but wherever u go,i hope u find ur ideal !!!good luck.
