what can I do as an activity with him. He usually just sits all day watching television. It's pretty sad because he seems so bored.
Any games or whatever you could recommend would be appreciated.

I'm sure he'd feel great about simply getting somebody's attention rather than be ignored like is usually the case with deaf people. You didn't mention how old he is, but if he can read and write he might enjoy having someone to talk to, someone who is ready to communicate in writing. And if you are ready to put in even more effort, you could learn some sign language (and let him help you with it if he's old enough) so that you can communicate with him better.

Depending on his age, you could also try some board games or make something with him (handcrafts or drawings), invite him with you to the zoo or somewhere else that might interest him or do pretty much whatever doesn't require him talking/listening.

Just some suggestions. I'm sure he'll appreciate you taking out time to be with him. I think it's sweet of you to want to do something for him. :)

Yahtzee, is always fun, but what a bout taking a class in sign language, he could help you, and that would boost his confidence too.
