the military is as diverse as the american public with diffrent views on politics.
no matter their opinion, he is their lawfully elected leader and the men and women of the military have vowed an oath to carry out his orders.

Do ALL liberals vote for Democrats? No to your question and my response. There are no absolutes. Historically the military has been a conservative organization and many service members do support the President in political terms but not all.
One of the little discussed facts is that the military is suppose to be a non-political organization as the next President/Commander-in-Chief could be of either or any party. The military swears their allegiance to the USA and the US Constitution not to the President or a political party.
Hey Proud...in your 1st paragraph you bad mouth President Bush and then in the next you state that as a service member you would never bad mouth him except in private (ie your family). Make a decision ( i imagine you might have heard that before) it can't be both ways.

I have been deployed by three different presidents. Bush I, Clinton and Bush II. I supported each one of these presidents while they were in office. Some of the conflicts I participated in I saw a purpose for and some I didn't. Some conflicts we finished and others like Kosovo and Iraq we still have troops involved in.
Most of us will not bad mouth our commander in chief just as we will not question the policies put in place by the duly elected representatives of the American people.
Privately most of us hope that we will be allowed to finish the job that we have started and that we will not treated as poorly as the returning veterans of the Vietnam war were treated by those more enlightened than us dumb grunts.

Rik doesn't speak for me or the other sailors I served with. We couldn't stand Bush and knew Iraq was a lie when we were waiting in the gulf for the invasion to begin while Powell was supposedly trying to convince the UN to get on board.
Yes we served under our CIC and like good military men and women would never badmouth him outside our families but those on the inside knew how we really felt.
In the interest of fairness and honesty though I must admit my cousin (a soldier) would eat Bush's turds if given the chance. His friends feel the same way.
I guess our opinions are like that of the rest of America- as varied as the people who serve.

as do many others of us. He has his faults as do all humans and we may not agree with some of his decisions, but when the dust settles, ya we do.
Crablegs, a true military man will never disrespect his Commander in Chief and will follow him without question. In Bushes case, our military follow him because they also feel he is doing the right thing. Talk to any true serviceman and not the parttime wannabe's that are whinning because they now have to live up to their contracts with Uncle Sam.

I think the members of the military appreciate him the least. Even more so with how long they have been overseas. They are so ready to come home. I know many did understand the need for us to fight but they now feel that their job is done and they should be heading home. I am just happy my husband wasn't sent over. Though he would love to serve his country it's gotton to the point that they should be taking care of themselves.

In 25 years of service I have given total support to every President I have served under.
Whether I voted for him or not.
Pity that the only place you find this sort of non-partisanship is in the military.
Maybe you should follow our example?

The great majority do. And the great majority support what is going on in Iraq.
Out of the hundreds of soldiers I've asked, only 1 says we shouldn't be there.

Well, he is the Commander and Chief of all of the military....whether you agree with him or his policies or not. Anything else is insubordination. If you disagree, it's a volunteer military and you can get out anytime you want to, just like Right to Work States can fire you for any abominable reason.
