I have raised my 2 boys (ages 9 and 12) alone. I am stable and have my act together. I have a college education and make good money. Men say I am very pretty. I am also level-headed, calm, friendly, and caring. I am still having trouble with the dating scene. I don't really want a serious relationship....just someone to hang out with that won't betray my trust. Someone who wants something similiar.....where do I find this? Is the problem that I am a single parent? I am not actively "looking", but I am keeping my eyes open to the kinds of guys, but they don't seem to be anywhere! Any advice anyone? I am lonely!

You sound like me only the opposite I'm looking for the same only a woman. We are just going to have to get out and do more. Join a singles group in church. Start bowling on Friday Saturday night when your free. Always wear a smile and smell good so i will notice.

I am also a single woman raising a two kids with many of the same attributes as you. I decided to get back out into the dating scene. I have been dating two and sometimes three gentleman at the same time and do so with integrity. I have learned alot about what I like, what I want, what makes me happy, what pulls at my heart strings, what I don't want. Not all the answers have surfaced yet and that is ok. It's an interesting process and I am enjoying it. I find that in dating more than one man, I am far less likely to become anxious and stressed about anything long term that I really don't think I am wanting at the moment. Seems to me that the only way you will find what you are looking for is to date several gentleman then perhaps narrow it down. Post a profile on a personals site. Hire a babysitter for weekend dates (as I did) Anyway.......this is what has worked for me. I am currently dating and perfectly happy with that. Good Luck to you!

My hat's off to you for doing so well alone! Parenting is never easy, and yes, It's pretty common knowledge that anyone with kids is not seen as being as desirable.
Another thing most guys will NEVER admit, especially to a single woman, is that they usually envision a committed, monogamous (esp. on the woman's part!) relationship down the road! You can tell them, "nothing serious" and they'll agree whole-heartedly, but as soon as they see you mean it, they throw fits!
So, get ready to deal with the fact that guys usually can't handle independent women NOR non-monogamy for women!
You still can have a good time; I just would avoid talking much about how "non-committed" you want to be right now, unless you find someone with whom you want to get serious.
And remember, your kids SHOULD always come first...but it sounds like you know that!

The kind of guys that you (and I) are looking for are hard to find....Its seems that everyone has been married and burned and they only want to have "casual sex" relationships..or we are all so gun-shy and protecting ourselves from doing the wrong thing again that we are all dodging one another. There are a lot of "nuts" in the world now too and then there is the worry of std's....etc.....I too am keeping my eyes open...observing....not "looking".....trying to be patient and let it happen naturally....I also have several freinds....singles (some with children, some not) who are lonely as well.....
Its a strange dilema.....Where the hell are the guys?????
