There is a difference in showing respect and letting your parents run all over you and ruin your life. My parents (I am 35) criticize me, tell me I am a rotten person, daughter, I am a nobody and never will be and everything else you can think of..My mom tells me what to eat, when to clean house, what to feed my dog, etc. It's so bad that I can't even talk to my family without getting majorly depressed at times..

I believe that we should always treat our parents with respect, no matter what the situation...(unless it is harmful in any way of course) It also depends on the age of the child...if it's a teenager, there will always be disagreements between parents & teenagers, because that is the toughest time for both. As we get older, we start to realize how often our parents were right when we thought they were so wrong. It's amazing how differently we look at our parents when we start to accept them as "people" and not just as our parents. It is possible to agree to disagree and end it in a respectful manner to all involved...it takes some compromising, but it's worth it & it's the mature way to handle it.

Chrildren should always respect their parents even though sometimes they may be wrong. Wait until they cool off and have a talk with them about how you feel and point out how they are wrong. If this is do not work then take it to someone of understanding that you trust for advice.

The most respect you can show a parent is to talk with them about what you know to be wrong. Let them know that regardless of the lack of ability to change their wrong doing, you know it's wrong and also let them know that they are putting you in a position of having to rise above it.
I don't know what your situation is, but my daughter had to have this kind of talk with her father. It took a while for him to come around, but eventually he did.
All the while, there was no name calling or raised voices.
It's hard, but you can do it.

It shouldn't matter if they think their parents are wrong or not, the kid should still show respect.

One should always show respect to their parents. Yes, even when they are making bad choices. You don't have to agree with what someone is saying or doing to respect them. God bless****
