Islam is both, claiming peace for those who submit to Allah and fatwa to those who oppress Muslim beliefs. Examples are: fatwaed when one wrote a book on the Oppression of Women in Islam. when someone said it is won by the sword. when someone flushed a koranic page down the toilet or was falsly accused of it. or when someone drew a bomb in a turban. etc... Christians can be falsely accused of disrespecting Islam somehow and go into hiding or get their churches burnt/ ransacked. These things are happening right now. Since I read Voice of the Martyrs. Persecuted Christians today, etc. It is also written of in the News Papers or in the News.

Islam prides itself on being a Balanced natural religion, the word islam means peace or perfect peace, now if you look at islams history as a whole you will find that compared to other religions it has and is very peaceful, for example for hundreds of years it lived in peace with Christians and Jews that lived in it's boarders, the only reason the Coptic Christians have survived this long is because islam not only lived in peace with them but protected them. and some of the oldest churches is the world is in egypt etc.. now there are in islam bad people who have power and mis-use it like Saddam or some priest who order Fatwa's ordering people to be murdered. but that is individuals not the religion it's the same in every religion, for example all those Catholic priest that molest those youth are not acting out of what the bible or Catholisim teaches, they are acting on their own.. to get what the religion teaches you must study the Holy Quran and other sacred text, and not what weak misguided people say or do. the Quran is very clear on how Muslims are to act and respond to those who diagree with them in chapter (Kafirun)109 Verse 1-6 it basicly says " you don't agree with me and i don't agree with you so to you be your way and to me be mine" it does not say kill them. but to get your own meaning you should read it for yourself. i hope this helps

Great question because I am writing a paper on it right now!! haha. For my research I looked up some information in the Koran (Qur'an) and it says you should kill those who oppose you and Allah. It also says to strike people about the neck with swords. If you read the Koran, you will find it kind of contradicts itself. From what I have been able to tell, it is not a peaceful religion.

yes Islam is a peaceful religion.Islam actually has fatwas to stop the suicide bombings and other acts of terrorism.if you read more about you'll see that is condemns terrorism and extremism

Cat Stevens (the singer) was admitting today on TV that they have to kill the people that don't follow Islam because the Quran says to. Stupid people. If your religion is telling you to kill people, than it's not based on God is it. Wouldn't that be "SATAN".

THE MAJOR TENET OF THE MUSLIM FAITH IS TO ISSUE A SUBMIT OR DIE EDICT. IF YOUR NOT MUSLIM THAT 'S THE OPTION OFFERED. THEY WONT STOP UNTIL THEY HAVE SHARIA LAW AROUND THE GLOBE. THAT IS LAW BASED ON THE KORAN WHERE WOMEN ARE OBJECTS OWNED, NOT PEOPLE. GOD BLESS
