It depends on how much he owes you and what your main priority is at the moment. If its a couple hundred dollars you might just want to write it off and get out of there for your own sanity. Even if $200 seems like a lot it may not be worth the pain and effort.
If it is a lot more money you could try to have him sign an agreement. Might be tough during a break up. But, worth a shot. At least if he signs something acknowledging he owes you, you could take him to small claims court down the line.
In the past, I've had my own expensive life lessons. Every once in awhile I think it would be nice if so-and-so had paid me back the money--but in the end I'm a better person for having learned the lesson and the money wouldn't have benefited me that much anyway.
Good luck!!

First of all you need to have what he owes you in writing. You should get 2 estimates to fix your car and also write out the money you loaned him for his car...get a reciept from the repairs if you can, and make a payment plan for him. Ask him to commit to a certain amount every week or every month, whatever, but an arranged payment plan and have him sign it. You can get it notarized if you want to at the post office, but it's really not necessary. Keep track of each payment he makes or misses. This way, maybe he'll take you seriously and start making payments to you. If not and things go down hill, you'll have everything you'll need to take him to small claims court if necessary. As for the relationship, it doesn't sound like you really care much either way.Only you know if it's worth it to "stick around".

Good luck with getting the money back unless you take him to court. He sounds like a loser borrowing money from his girlfriend! Your life would be much easier if you leave him now and find a guy who can support himself. I'll be looking for you on Judge Judy!

Did he sign anything saying he would pay you back?? If not, it will be hard to prove and get much out of... But in small claims court you can represent yourself and wont have to pay for a lawyer and it will only cost a filing fee.... You have to realize though, he could play dumb and then it's just your word against his...

Haven't heard both sides of the story, but there's an old saying "Don't throw good money after bad".

Don't stay in a relationship and be miserable just hoping he will pay you. Take his butt to court and get your money!

just try to stay with him as long as u can and start "borrowing the money for shopping". Just don't "borrow" all fo the money at one time. Then if he starts slacking up on the money take his stupid ass to court for the rest of the money after u move out and then break up with him, if you don't want any of your other things missing ar messed up.

Did you get it in writing? That is your proof in court.Leave him if things are that bad and try the court for the money.
