They only "ate of the fruit which the Lord God had forbidden them".
Some groups argue that it was in fact sex that caused "The Fall" - and even that Eve 'did it' with the serpent 1st!!
But, as they had been commanded to "be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth", it is likely that they were having sex before they ate the fruit.
[The fruit is traditionally an apple , by the way, because the same word, 'malum', in Latin meant both 'apple' and 'evil'!
But, as one person put it, "The problem wasn't the apple on the tree, but the pear {'pair} on the ground!"]

To break the spell of innocence, Adam and Eve ate fruit of the tree of knowledge. You could call this actual fruit or they somehow gained knowledge. It depends on how you interpret the myth.

As the story goes, Adam and Eve later populated the entire earth, so yes, they eventually had sex, but that is not what ended their innocence. That is, if you follow the story.

They didn't just eat fruit - they formed a jazz band with all the animals in Eden. The monkeys played tuba. The elephants played the upright bass guitar. The zebras did the drumming. And Adam and Eve each had a sax.

God, being a hater of jazz music, threw them out of Eden for making too much noise.

It was the eating of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and bad.

They were actually told to multiply. How can they do that without sex?

They ate the fruit against God's command. He didn't command they not have sex or "sax" as you put it. He actually commanded they go and multiply.
