Have to agree with alexinwon - Maybe you recorded wrong?
You 'dig your own grave' by creating a situation for yourself where you're gonna lose out.
Digging s/one else's would mean you're setting out to 'get' them.

Unless it is really obscure, based on the expression "gravy train" = success/wealth. "Digging s/one's gravy" could mean living off s/one else's success.
But tend to think 1st idea right.

Are you sure it didn't say "digging someone's gravE?

The phrase "digging your own grave" is commonly used to mean that someone is sabotaging themselves

never heard of that one but my guess is that it means you really like, enjoy or want what someone else has.
