Well, yes, Job is a good topic, and has many interesting aspects. Carl Jung mentioned that Job showed "unconditional positive regard" toward God, like a therapist should toward a client! This brought out the best from God. Interesting....

Some people think that the story of Job is a metaphor for the history of mankind. Job started out with a perfect life, children, wealth, prestige, respect. Satan came and acused him before God of only loving God because of his perfect life. God allowed the perfect life to be taken away and Job stayed true in spite of the hardships he endured. Job was blessed with more than he started with.

Mankind was in perfect Eden before the fall having all the things that Job had. Sin came and took all those things away making mankind miserable and lost. Jesus came and lived the perfect life in our place. so that in the end we will be better off than we were before the fall.

It's not a perfect fit but there are some obvious correlations.

Job gives us a behind the scenes look at the great controversy between Christ and Satan. Satan accuses us before God on a daily basis as only serving God because of the protection and blessings God gives us. God allows hardships to come upon His people as a way of proving the claims of Satan false. Satan is accusing God of not being fair in the protection of His people. God's character is vindicated when His people trust Him regardless of the hardships that come our way. Trials make pure gold, and by trusting God in bad times and good times, we learn to depend on Him and trust His promises to us despite what may seem like unfair circumstances.

Well, considering Lot offered his daughters to a mob of rapists, I'd say no, but Christians seem to view him in a positive light.

It is important to remember, however, that the story of Lot never actually says that homosexuality is wrong (as another poster suggested). While some people infer that because the mob of rapists wanted to "know" Lot's guests and God didn't look favorably on the actions of these Sodomites, I'd say God was actually more concerned about the gang rape than the gender of the rapists and victims. Don't perpetuate the misinterpretation to innocent, impressionable school kids.

If anything, Lot was glorified for not partaking in the various depraved activities of the residents of Sodom and Gomorrah and for his hospitality to travelers. I guess you could say he didn't give in to peer pressure.

Yes, he's a great person to talk about. Homosexuality is a big topic in today's culture, and the younger people are aquainted with God's message pertaining to this, the fairer the discussion will be, since it's not only Will and Grace getting to educate.
