It happens all the time. There are teams in the WSOP, look at Full Tilt (a group of 10+ pro players who work as a team).

Most teams work to enhance their skills but they also learn each others form of play (the tells). So if one player has some idea of what the other player has, they can decide how to play the hand.

There have been many teams in Vegas over the year, there are some teams that are ran as a corporation where taxes are taken out of the earnings, a 401K is set up and there is training to improve their skills. These teams support each other to become better and make the corporation more money.

IT happens all the time, it's call make a deal!, many tournaments allows that, and they don't have to stop it because it's your money at the buy-in and at the winning, you can decide to do what ever you want. You can make deals, side bets. And you don't need a "team" you can find plenty of gambler waiting for that. I actually done one once myself for good amount of money. You talk about if it happen at the wsop, well.....It happen a lot!!!

take care
