When the US draft is re-instated, let all those women (young and old) that are pro-Iraq war be the first on the selective list. If they and other Republican Christian Bush Rednecks knew the suffering and pain that the US is causing in that country (like Vietnam) they might re-think their support for this on-going madness!

Give these loud broads et al. a 16 and ship them out! NOW!

No, they will be included.

The neocons want the draft reinstated very badly as they attribute their losses in last month's election to the young voters.
They want them more under control and available for re-indoctrination.

Read up on HR 163 and S 89. They are the 2 most recent bills placed before Congress to reinstate the draft.

Both bill require that men & WOMEN 18026 be subjectto the draft. And what a surprise... HR 163 was introduced Rep. Rangel a Democrat from Michigan and S 89 was introduced by Sen. Hollings of South Carolina. The bills were tabled because the Republicans voted no or refused to let them come to the floor.

With the Dems soon to be in control of the Congress let's see if THEY reinstate the draft. And if they do...to para-phase your sterotypical label...the even the Democratic Anti-Christian Pelosi Weathy Elitists can grab an M16A1 and join the fight.

First of all, people, be they women, people of different races, people of different afflictions, or whatever, don't want equality. They want to use it as a point against you. When they have it, they want to guilt you into making up for lost time and putting them at the top of the list. Equality is fine, but RARELY does it stop there.

That being said, and i know it's sad in many ways, but women will not be included in the next draft if and when it happens. Keep in mind that the system is already set up for the draft. That's why all men register for selective service. As the system stands, the only way women can be drafted is if they register in the selective services.

While I thoroughly disagree with your views in one way, seeing as I am a Republican, Christian, Bush hugging 'Redneck' (from Texas), I agree in another. If someone is willing to support a cause, you damn well better be willing to die for it. Sex shouldn't be an issue.

I've thus far lost two really good buddies to the war, but I still support it just like they did up until the days they died. If I had to, I would go over there today.

However, I respect what you did for our country. Even though you apparently disagreed with the cause, you did what was asked of you. There is no greater type of man.

The Constitution gives us the right to freedom of speech. F***ing USE IT!!!

I to am a Nam vet ( 163 signal corps). I also am a vet of Gulf 1. I also am a Republican Christian Bush Redneck from New Hampshire. First we are NOT going to get another draft. I enlisted be for I was old enought to get a draft card. If some how the liberal do get one???, yes women will be drafted into the military in combat roles. this is because we have realized a women can do the same things in combat as a man. They can do it but not as good as a man. I know I am a male chauvinist pig.

Well aside from your un-informed assumption that the Republicans want a draft you might want to keep in mind that we now have an all volunteer military. We also have the best trained, best educated military in our history as a nation. No one in that all volunteer military wants to serve beside some poorly educated twit, we have high standards and despise being used by some poorly educated out of touch liberal politicians who want to score political points without the though of the cost in lives their proposals would cause those who serve honorably.

Politics and the appeasement of "peace protesters" cost tens of thousands of lives during the Vietnam war, I pray that the same thing doesn't happen again.

I don't think there's going to be a draft first of all. But even if there was I wouldn't support women being a part of it. Have any of you that do agree with it taken into consideration how things would be handled if you had a military spouse called up and they were both sent? What would you do with the children of these families? In fact what would you do with the children of the single mothers? Let's face it there aren't as many men who have their kids full time if they're single. These kind of things have to be thought about.

No, they're not exempt. They are available for a draft as much as men are. But a draft is NOT going to happen anyway.

EDIT: Just a question. Does anyone here actually believe that this guy is a Vietnam vet? Because it sounds like complete bullshit to me. If he was, he'd be able to see how clearly different Vietnam is from Iraq. Biggest difference being that this war is fought with a completely volunteer army. No one is there that didn't willingly enlist in the military.

Congressman Charles Rangel (DEMOCRAT) announced earlier this month that he will push to renew the military draft. Rangel argues, forcefully, that the draft will spread the burden of war more equitably and force political leaders to think twice about starting wars. "There's no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded
Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm's way."

Let me state that I am not a feminist and I am very pro-military. I am a veteran. You bet your *** they better not be exempt from service. This is what they have been fighting for all these years, equality. Now they have the equal right to fight and die on the battlefield just like I have. Don't kid yourself, the draft will not be reinstated any time soon. As for your Vietnam experience, that time is gone for the majority of the country and we now have bigger fish to fry. I DO NOT SUPPORT BUSH AND I DID NOT SUPPORT CLINTON BUT I DO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND AM NOT BITTER IN ANYWAY! The war on terror is very, very real and if you don't wake up and look outside your box, your going to get bitten sooner or later.

Your logic is so full of holes it is practically non-existant.

First, the ONLY senator who has suggested reinstating the draft is, in fact, a LIBERAL, and a democrat! President Bush has stated that so long as he is president, there will NOT be a draft.

Personally, I WILL be joining the armed services (most likely Air Force) this coming spring, and I WILL be serving wherever my country needs me.

IF a group could selectively be drafted, I would have to suggest those who just sit on their butts and oppose this war rather than actually doing something to HELP our troops in their mission. Those who complain loudest are those who have nothing to lose. I have THREE cousins involved with Iraq, and one of them was injured by a roadside bomb less than a week ago.

Shut your pie trap if you can't say anything constructive, loon.

Now, to the ACTUAL question:
I would not want my sister/wife/girlfriend involved in the draft, but that is not MY choice to make.

I agree that women should be included in the draft, we have fought for equal rights and this is one of the many ways I think we should be granted it. Women have served in a all the wars, played a tremendous role in our military and they continue to serve now. I am in the military my self and I have served for 19 years and it has been a honor and priviledge.
