Bart Simpson did it when he was 10 but in reality you have to be at least 16 to get a tenancy.

You have to be 16 or else Social Services may get involved.
18 yrs to get a morgage and tenancy agreement although some lesser landlords and Councils provide rented accommodation at 16 yrs.
Have you thought about house-sharing or renting a room from someone? Look at roombuddies.com or flatshare.com.
You might think that getting your own place will be fun but once you realise bills come first, i.e:- Rent, Council Tax, Water Rates, Gas, Electric, TV License, house maintenance then there is food, clothing yourself, it does not leave much left over. Also, it can be quite lonely, friends cant be there 24/7.
All the best

Hello,
Thats a very clear issue, the UK law deems you to be a child upto the age of 18years old (if you are less than 18yrs the law still considers you to technically be a child, and so your parents are still responsible for you!).
From the age of 18yrs old you are considered to be an adult under UK laws, so you can leave home legally at 18yrs old & live bye yourself if you choose or live with whoever you like. Your parents then have no say, its your choice completely. Your parents might not like that fact but those "are" the facts.

At 16. The person will be able to rent a property at that age but not get a mortgage until they are 17.

You can legally leave home at 16, but i would advise you to contact social services and they will help you with finding alternative accommodation. Your local social services dpt will be in your phone book directory.A social worker will guide you through welfare support and gaining employment, as well as settling you into your own home. All the best **

It varies from country to country. You don't say which country you re from, but in Britain it is 16. I wouldn't recommend doing it that young though (I was still clueless when I rented my own house at 20!) - talk to you citizens advice bureau or council to help you

It really depends on the situation.
Usually people leave when they're about 16-20. Between those two.
If you're younger than that and have a serious family situation, you could maybe get emancipated
