Has anyone booked with Ryanair recently? They now have even more hidden charges ie they charge you now to check in luggage (£7 per case and even to carry on hand luggage (£4 for 1 item) and then charge you to use a credit card and also a debit card! Is anyone else annoyed by this blatant attempt to hook you into thinking you're getting a cheap flight (initally my flight should have been £7 pre tax etc)...what can the public do to stop this kind of thing?

The point is that surely you shouldn't have to get most of the way through your booking before they make you aware that they are adding extra charges to the fare. The reason you're attracted to the fare in the first place is because of the price they have advertised (£6.78). If it was stated from the beginning that you will be charged for using a debit&credit card and for checking luggage in then that's ok, you're continuing with the booking being aware of that. What I don't like is the feeling of being cheated by these extra costs being added towards then end of the booking. At least the price that Easyjet advertises and the final total cost are actually not that much different - perhaps Ryanair should take a leaf from their book.

Oh stop whinging. Ryanair are the cheapest airline AND have a very young fleet of aircraft.

It makes some sense that people without lots of baggage can fly a little cheaper than those who weigh the aircraft down.

If you can't get on with the cheapest airline in europe, you should get a bicycle or else stay at home. Compare their routes with other airlines AND trains. I got a return flight from France to the UK for 65 euros return, including all taxes. The train fare would have been more than double & even the eurolines coach would have cost more.

ps their charges, as pointed out by others, aren't hidden. you just have to read a bit.

They do not charge £4 for hand luggage the £4 pound is for priority booking and on line check in. You have to opt out .Read the small print that comes up if you click 0 bags.Overal they are still the cheapest you just have to play by there rules and read everything on the website its all there.

What you pay for, is what you get - no hidden charges - read the small print, that's what it's for. The difference is - you have a choice whether you carry luggage or not. You carry - you pay with Ryanair. With other, more expensive airline - carry, or not carry luggage, you still pay, and a lot, lot more. So now, you tell me, who really is the one that ripps you off??

well try BA... you will be paying 5 - 6 times as much for the same flight.

but i always use easyjet.

no luggage charge, there is a credit card charge but not for debit card i don't think.

the credit card charge is because it costs them money to process it and at £7 for the original price they can hardly afford to lose anymore.

Hi m8, Ryanair is nothing but a rip off airline, they don't have a customer services dep't as they don't bother, it's your money they want. They detest disabled people, and treat them like dirt, I know , I am disabled and flew from Stanstead to Prestwick in Scotland, never again.

Poor Easy jet gets loads of bad publicity on tv, but that is the director picking up all the bad bits, I flew to Scotland to Glasgow from Stanstead, and I was overwhelmed with the service they gave me and my family, they got me a wheelchair and someone to take me to and from the aircraft at no extra cost, the whole flight and experience was very pleasant, thank you Easy Jet. Ryanair, well that idiot who owns it will one day pick on the wrong person, he and his tin pot airline can rot in hell, I am waiting for ryanair to go bust,so I can laugh my head off, he is an ignorant git of a person, and he can shove his tin pot airline right up his irish ***.

Ryanair = Total Ripoff. I wouldn't trust them anymore and will never fly with them again.
We were in Italy and going out we liked the priority boarding for families. It meant we could get our 3 kids on board before the scrum and ensure we were sitting together. We turned up at Pisa airport to return on Nov 1st only to learn that we would have to pay some Euros per person to enjoy priority booking.
Ripoff Irish gits - It's Easyjet for me from now on.

Careful, cos if you decide to only take hand luggage they will chare you 6 pounds (I think... to be checked) for the luxury of priority check in. not worth it take a big heavy bag. On the other hand, Ryanair is much cheaper then any other flights...

To be honest, I think that they're very good value for money. The charges are stated up front and in the grand scheme of things they're not really that expensive (just think that the london congestion charge is more expensive!)
If they can fly me to our house in France for 28p, I'm not going to complain about paying an extra £20 in taxes and charges - I beg you to try and find a cheaper way of getting there in under three hours!

bad news is the other airlines are following them. Aer Lingus also has introduced the baggage charge and others are planning it. They are all looking for cost effective ways of running their business. It is annoying I agree. Aer Lingus are going to start charging for pre flight seat reservation.

you need to compare the total prices each airline charge for the journey - Ryanair are still cheap (but crap)
