I have never met anybody who is. I would like to know where this urban myth arises. I have wished and been wished "Merry Christmas" by Christains, Jews, Muslims and Budhists, and I'm an athiest.

It's like this...Maybe half a dozen people were offended by it, so they decided to raise a fuss. The media got wind of it, and like everything else, they blew it all out of proportion. People AREN'T offended by the words "Merry Christmas," al least not for the most part.

After 31 years as an atheist, I can honestly say that I don't get offended. I do the whole Christmas thing, right down to the lights, the carols, and the Nativity Scene on the shelf. Wish people a Merry Christmas at every chance you get. Watch how they smile back at you.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It's because everything to do with Christmas is based on pagan religions.

Everygreens were used alot when people worshiped pagan sun gods. In Rome, people use to decorate trees, exchange presents, have feasts and all on the 25 December. It was called 'Sol Invictus festival', which means 'the unconquered sun', and has it's origins all the way back to Nimrods day.

Jesus would not have been born in December, because the shepherds were tending there flock outside. Even in Israel December gets cold at night then, and it's the middle of the rainy season. It was just easier to use celebration dates already in use, otherwise people would get upset.

Worth reading are-
1 Timothy 4:7
But turn down the false stories which violate what is holy and which old women tell...

Matthew 15:8-9
8 ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”

I don't think many are, except my intolerant PC lib friend. She's quite funny about that, actually.

I don't care what people celebrate. I celebrate Christmas, and most people do celebrate Christmas. To me it is a religious holiday and I don't like the commercialization, but I still celebrate it. Since it's what I celebrate, that is what I wish for others. If they don't celebrate anything, how is "happy holidays" any better? It doesn't make sense to me.

I say Merry Christmas to everyone. If they celebrate another holiday, they can wish me "Merry/Happy/Sucky _____." I don't care, I accept it as a kindness. I wish everyone did.

There might be a few people out there who would be offended by it because they are not Christians, but that is really a myth perpetuated by Christians.

The real issue is that Merry Christmas does not encompass all the wonderful holidays of this time of year, instead focusing on just one. So, people in public arenas (e.g. shopping malls, restaurants, etc.) are encouraged to say something like "Happy Holidays" in order to address more of the holidays that their customers celebrate. No one is offended by "Merry Christmas", rather, more people are specifically addressed by "Happy Holidays", though most people realize it is the implication of good tidings that counts.

I have no clue as to how this started other than people started saying Happy Holidays to be PC. I used to do the same, but this year, I said to hell with it. I started saying Merry Christmas again. We don't say Happy Holidays during Ramadan, Hanukkah or Kwanzza. We wish them a Happy Hanukkah! Christmas is the most important day in a Christian's religious life. Its needs to be recognized as such.

Because the world is too PC for its own good! I say "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

Because some people don't believe in Christmas. I celebrate Yule personally.

Someone tells me "Merry Christmas," I don't mind or get upset, I just reply with "Blessed Yule," and move on with my life.
