First of all CONGRATULATIONS FOR BEING 11 DAYS CUT FREE. that is great!!! have a party! eat chocolate and ice cream until you burst!!!

nchg37 is uneducated and ignorant--cutting is unhealthy and therapy is beneficial if both parties involved want it to be.
Cutting is addictive--that is why you are having sucha a hard time quitting. the reason you should quit is it gets worse and worse because you get immune to the pain so the cuts get deeper and bigger. it will be hard to stop as you approach finals but try--i know it may sound impossible--to keep stress at a minimum. take time each day for yourself just go for a walk, exercise, anything to clear your mind and help you get control.
Also keep taking all your meds!!!
keep seeing your therapist. make sure she is a good match. can you confide everything in her? does she watch the clock(is there a clock where you can see it in the therapy room)? does she make you answer your own questions (she should) by thinking? if she is not a good match fire her and get another. Have you told her you are cutting? she needs to know. would she allow you to call her when temptation gets too bad? get a support system in place as finals approach so you can pull it up as needed. you can beat this. don't give up if you slip. you can do this. good luck on finals.

peace&hope

I pray to god you will keep the damage small. Cutters are all pretty, all intelligent and all good people. When the come out of it they know the scars scare people . The stress of feeling other people's aura makes you think it is pain and the lower brain has been allowed to reroute messages to wrong parts of the upper two brains. So you cut and the pain seems to disappear. the lower brain has automatic powers for deciding balance breathing and the stuff of life. It takes a strong emotion to reverse that automatic switching power in the aura-pain understanding area. I hope you can be cool about exams about love about sex and about loss of friends. Just know you will survive real fine some day. Now you need to allow the real possibility that someone will look at you and feel love and your aura will be upset.

You could outlet your world of misery and woe into something more practical and less self-injurious than making yourself bleed in this little razorblade romance you have going. I suggest you start smoking or drinking. For someone as young as I bet you are, wine coolers would probably be most advisable.

Also, quit therapy. Therapists only want to tell you that you're crazy and take your money. But trust me hon, you're not crazy, and cutting isn't bad, just rather impractical.

Try just sitting down and letting all the anger out. Try listining to realxing music while you do it too. Try "Spirit Dreams" by Thomas Walker. (Not found on the web) Is should be by the sample music at Wal-Mart. Good Luck with that.

after you get over this hump of the first time period not cutting, then in the future you will be less prompted to cut, then eventually you wont care for it at all. the sooner you stop, the sooner this whole ordeal will end, but each time u do, u have to start over. 11 days that awesome! keep it up girl, you can do this

you need more than just antidepressants to stop cutting.. you also need therapy.. in particular dialectical behavioral therapy is good for helping with cutting....

DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) changed my life... google Marsha Linehan and call her and see if there is a DBT therapist in your area...

in the meantime...when you want to cut put ice cubes on your skin....or snap a rubber band on your wrist... these things mimic cutting without the damage......

you may want to let your therapist or the person that prescribed your anti depressants know that you're having these feelings so they can address the issue - might also want to look intoa support group for it so that you have a team of support and such helping you... :) best of luck and good to know that you're working to stop it.
