To the extent that it isn't totally impossible, it could happen, but verrrrry unlikely. Look, we are hardwired to interract with people on the physical plane. we need to experience that other person with our whole five senses. You can talk on the internet or over the telephone with somebody till the moon turns into green cheese but can NEVER get a sense of who that person truly is in alllllll the ways that you are going to need to before you commit yourself to that person as some kind of life partner. When I first met my husband of - well, a long time ago lol - I wanted to know a lot more about him than just his good humor and charm. I w anted to know what he was truly like in the WORST of situations. When things were not all going his way....... Getting into a tangle with a bad driver on the road, for example. Was he polite in restaurants, considerate of others, including my friends and family. Did he behave as if he had a pound of couth, or engage in unsavory behaviours like fart in public, or suck and pick at his teeth at the dinner table. Was he rude, or crude to others, or tell inappropriate "jokes" when any halfwit would know this was not the right company to tell such a story.? Could he patiently wait his turn in a line for anything, or start stomping his feet and huffing and humphing and muttering vulgarities under his breath.?
People can, and do, hide this kind of things about themselves when they are talking on the internet or telephone. ONLY direct physical contact with that other person , over a significant period of time, is going to reveal the TRUE person behind the mask. And you have to remember that when you are in that first airy-fairy "glow" of romantic feeling for this other person, oh boy, you can forgive, or overlook a whoooooole lot of gross behaviours till you've had to deal with them a couple dozen times Plenty of people get a big surprise about the person they thought they knew the old fashioned way, before marriage, but usually they were just ignoring the big flashing neon-lighted signs. But add to that the folly of falling for somebody before you even get to meet them at all, and you are almost certainly setting yourself up for a giant-sized shock and disappointment, and in some extreme cases even total disaster.

It can, but it takes some getting used to. When an online relationship switches to real-life interaction, it's pretty much like starting over from scratch.

There's a certain comfort level involved in an online relationship. You can carefully choose your words (if by text), and even though you may be watching each other over a web cam, it's not quite like real face to face eye contact. Plus, you're in a much more controlled environment online. if you have a bad online date, all you have to do is log off. On a real date, if things go bad, it can seem to go on forever.

If you accept the fact that getting to know someone in real life is ten times harder than being with them in person, and if you're willing to put forth the effort, you can make it work...and last.

Met my boyfriend playing cards on the net...refused to meet him for almost 6 months...that was 5 years ago and things are still going strong and we are quite happy. But keep in mind for every good story you will hear 5 horror stories.

I met my current boyfriend on Yahoo Chat and a week later we went on a date. A couple months later I moved from home to go to college while he spent a semester at home and later switched schools to be with me. We now live together and its been almost 2 years. So yes anything is possible :)

Most of the time yes till you meet then this person that sounded so great and wonderful is not at all what you were thinking.

Good luck on this one but you never know till you try it!

Pretty unlikely. Meeting a person face to face can give you a whole different perspective on how you actually feel about that person!
