The pipe filled with concrete is your best bet. While I wouldn’t go so far as to put something nice over it, I would cover the pipe with four 1x6 boards and paint it. This will give the illusion of a wood post without putting out too much $$$. As stated above, they may still hit it, but their car or truck will suffer greatly as a result. Camera’s are great if you have the money, but the best way to prevent it is to give them a reason NOT to do it. If you have a welder, weld a flat piece of 1/4” steel to the top of the post. This will do additional damage to the vehicle if they hit is hard enough to bend it over. By the way, if you fill it with concrete and burry it at least 3 feet down, they will have to hit it pretty hard to break it. While concrete doesn’t do well against lateral forces, it does GREAT against compression forces. Containing the concrete in steel is like changing the lateral forces into compression forces and it will not come down easy. If they hit it once and damage it bad enough that it has to be replaced, chances are you will not have to replace the 2nd one.
Good luck

I know the feeling. My mailbox is a quarter mile away.
Here is what I did.
I put a six inch pipe in the ground sinking it three feet down, then filled it with concrete.
Then I built a real cool light house over it and mounted my mailbox in the fake light house.
About two weeks later someone hit the lighthouse with their car and that wonderful pipe held them there so that I could call the police and have them arrested.
Justice was mine, sayeth the Knight

This happened to my grandfather.
He put the mailbox on a post concreted into the ground. He bought a solid steel box that was secured to the post ( I don't know how )
They tried to hit the post once. They tried to crush the box once (maybe more - how would I know).
Good luck

Hard to stop. I would suggest buying one of those plastic mailboxes or invest in a big sturdy brick layered box.

Got a surveillance camera? Go to the United States postal Service and your local police and report it. Meantime build one mad of brick and cement or install a mail slot directly to your home.

open a box at the PO then you can take it down or keep up the issue but if you can't see it thats bad cause then your never going to see who it is If it bugged me to death I would j open a private PO. box and try going to fed court over that Sorry fedral courts are for bigger issues No crime has been committed
turn it into your homeowners policy if its THAT expensive Good Luck with the justice thing

Theres no way you can stop this, but u can hide and catch the people that do this. Jump them and call the cops. Or call the cops ahead of time and they might sit and wait for them to do it again
