Genuine Windows ME or Non-Genuine Windows XP?
Which one should I choose?
These are the only choices, no MACs, Linux, or anything else.

You are caught between a rock and a hard spot. Microsoft does not support any platform prior to Windows XP SP2.

No critical updates for Windows ME, or support.

Windows XP Home or Pro., will not install unless the platform can pass the WGA, (Windows Genuine Advantage). Tool to validate your platform does not have a crack/serial key or key used by a person who purchased the platform.

Sounds like your only option is to stay with Windows ME, and no critical updates.

Non-Genuine XP is illegal so that is not an option. Windows Me was a disaster but that is what you can legally use. I am not sure if new things like Internet Explorer 7, Windows Media10 or many new games will even work with Windows Me but that is your only choice.

Sorry...

I don't recommend either Windows ME or Non-Genuine Windows XP. I suggest you buy a valid copy of Windows XP. You can probably find it cheap on Ebay. Make sure the seller is reputable by checking his feedback and that he state is a valid licensed software. XP is better by a long shot.

Windows XP - use it as a stopgap and then buy Vista.

Windows ME is a VERY unsatisfactory OS - even moreso than usual from Microsoft!
