I will be recieving my Oz citizenship on Australia day next year. I am Irish and have been living here 4 years, I still feel Irish and not Australian and i feel Australians will still treat me as being Irish when I am a citizen so will it be wrong for me not to associate myself as being Australian when I get it. Nothing against Australia and her people I love them both

Congratulations of recieveing your Australian Citizenship! You are Irish! There is no shame and feeling Irish and not Australian.. You have been Irish, most of your life... it will take time for you to feel Australian, but rest assured... you eventually will feel like and Aussie... it just takes time. And you will always have roots to your Irish heritage... as many other Australian's do.

Congratulations,
the truth is people actually never truly belong to the country the have become a citizen in
for example if you were in the US you will have been called Irish American (I have always ask why) but it is a fact
even when you feel like you belong their is always some 88 prejudice that will remind you
beside who want to forget their heritage no matter how bad it is
that what make you great, and as well made you appreciate your new citizenship
so know that you will always be an Irish Australian is not a bad thing
So Love Australia be faithful to her that is all you can do
Good Luck for the Furture
