I'm in my mid-twenties and I work in an office where this childish guy always tries to mess with me...he taps me on the shoulder and tries to hide, he swats me with his paperwork, he always has some sarcastic joke or riddle to tell me...then, next thing you know he's asking me on a date...what's the deal with all this childish flirting? And why do some adult men pick on women, when they really like them? Why can't they just be nice if they're flirting?

Everyone is scared of rejection so they test the water first; see how you react when they're acting stupid. They think that when they act stupid around you, you'd warm up to them. When they think you're warm, they ask you out. What they don't know is that they're using a defective barometer to test for warmth.

12 year old brain = 12 year old behavior. It's that simple, guys will always have some primal instincts that they must resist acting on, hence the childish behavior. The good thing is, we can wisen up in the blink of an eye if we are awaken to the level of stupidity we're displaying. You should tell him to grow up.

That may just simply be the way they've always thought to flirt, or to show someone they are interested in them. They may figure that if they pick on you or if they are playful that you may respond to that moreover them being straightforward. There are many men out here who act younger than they are. It's the same reason why boys did it to you when you were young. To show interest, hoping you'll respond to it without having to be straightforward, and possibly getting rejected.

I think these guys just have no clue how to act around women, and just do what they did when they were in middle school to try and impress the ladies. They key is to make it perfectly clear that acting like a loser will get them absolutely nowhere. That's what I did, and the guy I told it to is living with me now, lol.

This is because u women condone this!! U allow this behavior.
There are plenty of decent men out there who treat women like real ladies. Who act like gentlemen in the presence of ladies.
These men are very mature.
Women sadly are not.
I have come to two conclusions about women.
1. Women like men they feel they can change.
2. Women often feel they dont deserve any better.
Believe it or not, women set the standards on the dating scene. This determines how men behave. Basically what he can get away with. With great power comes great responsibility and women since the womens lib movement, have failed miserably to set standards for themselves, and force men to behave like gentlemen.
Like dave chapelle said " If POON were a stock it would be at an all time low"
How true this is.
If you want to know why most men fail to act like gentlen towards women, all u have to do is look in the mirror.

I would say this is normal,
guys like to mess with the girl they like,
just to put an image in her heart.
There's a saying,
a guy only flirts the girl he likes,
a girl only beat the guy she likes.

there are way to many sexual harassment cases...so we have to go with what worked in the third grade to avoid getting fired.
