I am writing a reilgion paper which is dealing with the methods of judgement used by the Prophet Amos but I am having trouble finding the information. So I wanted to open up my options and see if there is anything else I could do research on. Does anyone have any good ideas research topics on the prophets in the old testament?

A few interesting topics would be, What is the role of inspiration in prophecy? Are there limits to inspiration? Should we expect all prophets to be infallible? Are they not still human? What if they make mistakes, are they still prophets? Are the prophets inspired or the words they say inspired, or both? If prophets make mistakes, how does this change the view of the infallibility of scripture? Is scripture infallible? How about contradictions in scripture? Did the prophets understand everything there was to understand about their prophecies? Do prophets grow in their knowledge of God and His providence? Does this growth in knowledge cause contradictions in prophecy? Was there a difference in the function of OT prophets from NT prophets? Is the gift of prophecy still in the church?

Just a few ideas. Good luck.

I have 2 books that come to mind: Ego, Self and the old testament prophets by J. Gary Sparks which is a jungian analyst's view on the prophets and "La cinquieme Montagne" (the fifth mountain) by Paolo Coehlo which is a novel about the prophet Elie.

If you don't have time to read those and get inspired...sorry but I have no quick answer.

Isiah foretold Jesus' birth. I haven't looked at Amos for a while. Elijah was an interesting one.

This seems to be a good summary of the book. I think it shows a lot of opportunities for paper topics.

On the basis you only have one book to base any "research" on, what about the contradictions in Genesis?
