Don't listen to the above idiots. The reason it smells so foul is because it is your body's way of releasing toxic gas. The gas that is released is Methane, a very foul smelling and explosive gas. Also your diet play a big role in how they smell, for example, someone who has just eaten saurkraut will smell far worse than someone who has eaten ice cream.
