Desperately seeking someone who has the gift of prophecy & not with the view point of foretelling the future or adding anything additional to God's word. Charles Stanely has a wonderful description of all the gifts in his radio archives, back in January 2005. I always called this ability a curse until I heard his sermon & understoond this strong spiritual discernment & unbelievable intuition is God-given. Hearing his message helped me realize I wasn't crazy after all nor was I this horrible, quick judgemental type person but rather it was information that God was allowing me to see. I really need to share info, guidance, support & encouragment. Most important, need strong God-giving advice and wisdom. I have done additional research online getting other pastors (?) viewpoints & yet at times I will still call it a curse, which then grieves me with a deep sense of guilt. After all, it is a gift from God, meant to be used for His work & to glorify His name.

The Spirit of God can give any gift in a moment as He wills. The Spirit of God can fall on any one of us and any of us can prophesy. The gift is something that the Spirit can come through either a man or a woman. It has nothing to do with their calling, their training, their preparation or their qualification. It may be informational, directive or a word of encouragement.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ ...

What I make of this that the prophet has the gift of the Spirit of understanding and bringing out the deeper things of the word of God that are not available to the one who has the gift of preaching or teaching only.

The gift of prophecy is to be used in balance with all the other gifts of the Spirit. There are some today who take it too far and misuse it for selfish gain. God never meant it to be used this way and when it is Christian leaders should address the problem and deal with it in love. But if God has given you this gift, use it only as the Spirit directs and be in submission to a Godly pastor so that you will keep a balance. It is not to be used to tell people what to do with their lives and express your own feelings. An excellent book has been written to clarify some of the abuses of the use of the gift of prophecy...by John Bevere...Thus Saith the Lord? You can get a copy on Ebay.

Yes, I do. But, just that I ask God and God answers through others, visions or dreams, or voice, or physically.

God directed me to http://www.kimclement.com telling me Kim truly a Prophet apointed of the Lord. Actually, I read some of what God has revealed to Him and they were answers to prayers I had specifically prayed for. So also other Prophets and / or Preachers, people, have been answers to prayers also. He is in an office of Prophet (of 5 fold ministry). Of course I have been reading http://www.elijahlist.com where articles from people who have had visions or messages from God. Most confirm true in my spirit. They also have the Prophets Magazine one can order.

Then there is the gift of prophecy that is given to encourage others or a word from God for others. This sometimes is through the gift of tongues and interpretation of it in the church services. Or a word is given when one is praying for another.

Sometimes God will reveal a sin in someones life, but that is to know how to pray for someone & to speak life & truth into that someone.

As far as a curse goes. There are spiritual curses, and they are uncomfortable / feel awful. See it come, dipped in Gods love and returned to sender (like a boomerang). The grieving that comes with accidently calling Gods gift a curse, is grieving the Holy Spirit. I have done that in the past. Just repent to God, and thank God, God is who God says He Is, and will always be with you & never leave you. It is just part of the old thought trying to lie to you. Just cast down the lie and replace it by speaking Gods truth and thank God for His Gifts.

Ok, I'm not quite sure what your question is dear, but I would be happy to share wisdom with you. I think your problem is you are bouncing from sad to happy rather quickly, and you need to find balance.

You seem like you are a believer, so you should strengthen your views that it is not a curse. Logically speaking God can't do evil, so his work can't be a curse. Realistically speaking, whenever you talk to people openly and honestly, and possibly with love, that is never a curse, but a blessing.

I'd be more than happy to share some insights with you.

Be very careful, because you might be in serious spiritual deception. Apparently you are, or have been, aware of this, and now are searching to justify rationally to yourself this "gift" as a divine gift. God's gifts are not arbitrary, and those who receive them are already very much aware why God offers these spiritual gifts to them and how they are supposed to use them.

When in an ambiguous situation than can be potentially spiritually dangerous, our duty is to pray right away, saying: "Lord, if this vision (or whatever) is from Thou, let me receive it, and if it's not from Thou, protect me from it and send away the deceiver!" Making the sign of the cross on ourselves also helps because it drives demons away, but somehow I think your Christian denomination doesn't keep this tradition.

Once, two young monks went to ask St. Anthony if their prophetic gifts are from God or from demons. On the way, the mule they had with them got ill and died. When they arrived, before they had time to ask their question, St. Anthony ask them what happened to their mule. The monks were amazed and ask him how come he knew they had a mule with them. The saint replied: "Oh, the demons showed me." Then they realized this was a parable through which the saint was replying to their problem, and were edified.

We as Christians, are given the Holy Spirit as our Guide when we get saved. He is like "God's intuition", if you will. You haven't given a for instance as to what your gift entails, so it's hard to comment on it, but if you're saved, and walking with the Lord, it's only natural that He will impart things to you as a believer! xx

We are all given gifts to be used for Gods glory. Mine is discernment. God reveals a person (most times) with some spirit on them so I can pray for them.
I pray you find your answer so it becomes a blessing.

I have had at times, I can access it... Check out Romans 12-13.

Always remember to listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, many have had words from God for a person, before the time to give them, God usually works in the prophet too, to help them Glorify God...

That is an awesome gift... I want to encourage you in it...

I see things in people too, I have had to learn to love and when I see those things, so that I can help them to grow stronger in the Lord, and not use it to hurt them or punish them (as is my nature sometimes...)

That is awesome love to chat with you via email...

The miraculous gifts were useful in showing that God was using the Christian congregation.

But Paul explained that these gifts would pass away once they were no longer needed. “Whether there are gifts of prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with. For we have partial knowledge and we prophesy partially; but when that which is complete arrives, that which is partial will be done away with.”—1 Corinthians 13:8-10.

Today, people have access to Bibles, as well as concordances and encyclopedias. Over six million trained Christians are assisting others to gain divine knowledge based on the Bible. Thus, miracles are no longer necessary to attest to Jesus Christ, its all in the bible.
