Puppies all have tiny sharp teeth, so yes it hurts. You have to make sure they know at an early age that it's not acceptable to ever bite a human. When it happens, you say a firm "no bite"...they catch on quicker than you think. Make sure they have lots of toys to teeth on. Good luck!

Chihuahua's have a reputation for being very protective of their humans and often snap at people they don't know. Because they're tiny dogs, too, their teeth is the only real weapon they have to defend themselves. If you provoke or frighten a Chi, it will probably bite... and with their little needle teeth, the bite can be painful.

You can keep your chi from biting by treating it well and by training it properly.

MIne has 2 different bites. the play bite and the mad bite. The mad bite hurts but add dogs bite hurts..when my chi does hit mad bite I give him a little spank on the butt, he gives me this mean look but he stops..he knows the difference..I can say "just play bite" and he knows what I am talking about...dogs are smart..
