This is a common dilema for so many people. I know he hates the crate but it really is the best place for him while you are away. It keeps him of trouble and away from your couch and other things he can eat or chew. You can also try a playpen or a baby gate to lock him in the kitchen if he is not to big to jump over. Some thing that may keep him occupied is a Kong toy. You can get them at petsmart, petco etc. They are rubber and they look like a beehive. Smear the inside with a thick layer of peanut butter and freeze it. Give it to him in the crate to keep him busy. It will take him a good long time to get all the peanut butter out. They are indestructable and you can put them in the dishwasher. They are a little expensive between 16-25 dollars but well worth it because you will only have to buy one. This worked great with my golden puppy. Bitter apple spray on the areas of the couch he likes to chew may also help a little. Good luck! I know how frustrating this can be.

You might need to work on how to crate your dog and correct the "screaming". Otherwise you could try bitter apple or other spray on your couch to make the taste not appetizing but he may chew it anyway or go to the walls.
I personally opt for the crate while in training and plenty of chew toys when out.
Practice putting him in the crate when you are there. When he "screams" you can say "NO" and spray a tiny bit of "Yuck Mouth" or "Bitter Apple (available in Pet Stores) in the mouth just as he "screams". You may have to repeat. Another thing that helps is to put a sheet over the crate as long as it is the type that he can't pull the sheet into the crate.
Put a Kong toy in there with him with a tad of peanut butter inside.
None of my dogs have to be crated now. It really was helpful in training them when they were in that destructive chewing stage.

Go to the pet store and ask for this spray called No Stay. It's made by pet organics. You spray it on your furniture and your dog won't want to chew it, it acts as a sort of all natural repellent. There is that 1 in 100 chance your puppy could end up liking the stuff, but it's super rare. It's made with all sorts of spices that dogs don't like the smell or the taste of. It worked for us when we first got our dog. He kept chewing the handles on the entertainment center. Hope this might be of some help!

We have had many problems with that, and with two dogs, i think i have a good idea of what you should do. As an owner of two dogs, the thing that I would do the most with them is to repremend them. Buy a rawhide for him, dogs love them. Put a couple out around the house. If you see him chewing the couch say "Bad ______" (use his name) and pick him up and put him by his rawhide. Don't put him in a kennel, that just makes him not like you and he will continue to misbehave. Hope this works for you.

I actually have a 5 month pitty/boxer mix. i comprehend what your dealing with, you would possibly want to save an intensive eye on her take it out of her mouth and say NO! save your shoes,or something useful far flung from her. He starts chewing something I placed him in his crate with some toys. do no longer provide your pup a toy even as she chews on your issues it really is a reward. Pits favor various of workout provide her a lengthy walks and enable her run get her drained. Play fetch save her ideas off chewing. actually have you ever tried the Kongs attempt the (black one) thats the hardest. also the nyla bones my pup loves them. Do you crate her? i'd advise to untill the chewing is curved. i'd placed her in there even as your slumbering, going out, or cant save an intensive eye on her. You cant get mad at her like 10 minutes later she dont comprehend what your yell for. purely be patiant shes a pup and her tooth damage thats why shes chewing. reliable luck wish this helps!

Yes, find someone who can help you crate train your puppy so you don't lose your couch and your neighbors don't complain. Try Petsmart they have training classes but I don't know if crate training is one of them.

At this time your dog is still teething, depending on the dog, it should stop after about 1 yr old.

All I can recommend is to scold him if you see him doing it. Eventually he will learn not to and won't chew anymore.
