My 24 year old son is in desperate need of dental work. I cannot find a dentist who will see him. I have dental insurance, but medicaid will pay for his dental if the dentist feels its medically necessary to put him in the hospital. I am a single mother of 2 autistic sons and am struggling to make sure all their needs are met. They are both in a group home and they have not found a dentist either. Oprah, please help me find someone with patience, compassion and understanding who is willing to work on special needs people and willing to fix and restore his teeth. I know you are a very sweet and compassionate woman with a big heart. I am all my sons have and I just want to help my son. Please help me find a dentist.......Thank you, Mary

A pediatric dentist has the ability of treating children with difficult situations. Begin by contacting your local dental society to ask for pediatric dental referrals. If you happen to be in Houston, then Dr. Regins Lewis is AWESOME! SHe is located on Fallbrook near CY-Fair hospital.

Aren't these boys covered by Social Security Insurance or Medicaid? Don't they, belonging to a group home, have a medical practitioner that handles all the cases for that area, our areas does in Michigan. I don't want to seem crass but we all need help whether they're autistic or not. I raised five kids and spent most of my life supporting doctors and dentists. If you can get help from someone without paying your fair share that's fine. My friend is raising an 18 year old boy that is autistic, blind and deaf, all his schooling and health. She has three other children too.

Mary, Your best bet is to find a caring pediatric dentist who
knows how to deal with children. Seems like you are also
concerned with the cost, with or without insurance.
You could sign your son up for the membership with
eHealthPlus that will give you discounts at pediatric dentists.
You will find plenty in Texas on the network.

Find a Maxillo-facial surgeon...if u can find one that actually works with a dentist, then go see the dentist that works with him. Usually, maxillo-facial surgeons are affiliated to anasthesists and can put your son asleep to work on him.
