I love my starbucks, I mean when I get that grande mocha in the morning it tastes so good and makes me happy. But, I hate being dependant on it. If I go more then about 3 hours after waking up without having one I get a big craving for it and a headache that won't quit. Plus, I can't wake up without it. I hate the feeling of not being able to resist it, and knowing that I can have my $3 caffenie fix to make it all better.....arrrh....starbucks is evil! What is the best way to wean myself off?

I lived in Italy for 3 years where the life practically revolves around cafe', I was drinking 2 doubles a day and didn't realize what I was getting myself into. That was about 5 years ago now....It costs money and doesn't help with my goal to try and lose weight...any suggestions?

You don't want to get unaddicted to caffeine... breaking that habit is likely to push you towards worse stuff (most likely smoking or alcohol)...

What you want to do is make your morning coffee at home, less expensive. Other possibilities are stopping the mocha and reducing the sugar by switching to aspartam and the like. You might also try switching to light caffeinated sodas, though those are much less satisfying than a nice large much of hot coffee.

reducing doses is not out of the picture though... one of the few advantages of US coffee style is that I can have a morning, midmorning, after lunch, and midafternoon mugs without getting the heebeejeebees like I would if I were having double expressos.

Just don't drink it and your body will readjust as half of the "I need coffee" is just a mental thing. I worked in a restaurant....... you'd see people with decaf by mistake and they would go "man I needed the caffiene!". Getting up earlier and exercising would help as well. You just need a healthier addiction. Personally the 150 bucks a month savings was enough for me.

I've not been much for coffee but I had to have a Monster energy drink every morning. I just decided one day it was bad to have and need that much caffeine so I quit. I don't any caffeine now.
It'll take about 3 weeks to get over the craving.

I would start by only drinking coffee you make at home. Gradually make your coffee caffeine free by mixing decaf with the caffeinated coffee until it is all decaf. If you space it out enough over some time you will not notice a difference.

try drinking something else like water every time you get the urge to drink coffee and you don't stop right away it will take some time that's why you should keep it up and stick to only having coffee like twice a week

Coffe won't make you gain weight, ita actually helps you lose weight. Quit drinking sugary starbucks crap like all the other addicted fat girls. Have a regular coffee black, oe with skim milk and make it at home.
