Being a person with chronic allergies, I have a stuffy nose pretty much 24/7. Here are my top 3 ways to clear up.
1. Use a saline nasal spray. My favorites are just the ones you pick up at any drugstore. However, if you use some forms of Afrin, it is addictive, and causes your nose to depend on the spray. Do not use it more than 3 times a month.
2. Vicks VapoRub. A miracle in my opinion. Rub it on your chest and neck, and sniff the finger or hand you rubbed it on with. Clears congestion right up!
3. Go out into the cold. Spend one or two minutes just breathing cold air, and you nose will be clear as water. This works especially well at night, when you have trouble sleeping because of your stuffed up nose. This also works if you have a dry cough.

Sounds simple and perhaps moronic but it works in some cases to try eating something spicy or with hot sauce. You may even want to try heating up some hot sauce and breathing in the vapors there after. If you do this combined with other healing methods you shouldnt have a problem for long. Get well soon

As to the answer about the Afrin, you can become addicted to Afrin and have rebound. Rebound effect causes you to not be able to go without using the Afrin as your nose will be stuffy until you use it. It is recommended that you only use it for 3 days then discontinue. Afrin is wonderful for the stuffy nose, but please discontinue it`s use after 3 days. You can use normal saline nasal products, and ask the pharmacist or doctor for other suggestions, as it is not legal to prescribed medications unless you are licensed to do so.

See a chiropractor. It takes 1-2 visits to start working, but it works like a charm.

Get a nettie pot-it's a little gross but it doesn't hurt and it cleans out the sinus immediately and will help them from becoming infected. It also keeps them (sinus) moist-they can dry out in the winter.

I take Claritan D (contains decongestant). It's the only thing that works, but I try not to take it every day so I don't get dependent on it.
