Everyone has different tolerances to pain. I didnt realize I had a high tolerance for pain until I got my first piercing done, which just happened to be my tongue. It didnt hurt too much, until he started to screw the balls onto the barbell. But even that was more discomfort than being really painful. I got my tongue pierced between classes. I would advise you eat a good meal an hour or so before you go because you will probably be on soft food for the next few days. And ice or cold metal spoons really help

When you think about it how can a piece of invasive metal not hurt, but reality is usually much different than theory. I have my tongue pierced and everytime I thought about the pain of biting my tongue I talked myself out of getting my tongue pierced but finally I did it and was pleasantly surprised it didn't hurt at all. Getting my belly button hurt more than my tongue. The first day you get it pierced it will be fine, when you wake up the next morning however your tongue will be swollen to the entire length of the bar. This is to be expected. After a couple of days the swelling will go down and your tongue will go back to normal. Eating will be difficult and a little painful while your tongue is swollen but after about a week you won't even remember it.

I have a sticker on my car that says "F*** Yeah It Hurts!" because I got tired of people asking me if that tattoo or peircing hurt. But in answer to your question, the tongue is not terrible, the pain comes from the swelling later on. The lip on the other hand was a *****! It hurt worse than any of the other 6 I have had done, but that may have been a personal pain thing. The mistake I made was taking it out and getting it redone a few years later. Needle+scar tissue=blood and watering eyes. Oh, and by the way for the person on here who said that they do tongues with a gun, I dunno what ghetto piercer you've been to but they need to revamp their policies.

I never have had my tongue pierced but I have had my lip done. It really doesnt hurt as much as you would think it would. It may be uncomfortable at first as you get used to it but it will pass. If I compared the pain it would feel like you bit the inside of your lip. Thats about how much it hurts. Unless you are a sissy.

As with any piercing; you will feel something. Depending on your tolerance for pain and the skill of the piercer, that feeling will vary. Most of the pain in piercings comes from the following days when the area is swollen and sore.

As long as you keep the piercings clean and go to a reputable piercer, you'll be fine and problem free. Good luck.

I am the biggest baby and I did not think that getting my tongue pierced was that bad at all. It was really a little pinch going through the top and then again out the bottom. It really wasn't that bad though.

All piercings hurt a little. My tongue hurt like hell, but other people might say it wasn't so bad. It depends on the person and their personal tolerance for pain.

you gonna feel the needle go through your flesh...but it depends on your pain tolerance...for me the after care hurt more than the actual piercing..and If I accidentally bit on my tongue...it didn't hurt that much when I got my tongue pierced. the swelling and weird speech...were annoying. but thats where ice and motrin come in. just go to a good clean piercer. :]
