how unconscious? brain dead? then nothing hurts, or just drugged? because when your body realizes that its about to die it starts pumping all sorts of brain chemicals into the body trying to get your fight or flight mechanisms to work and this is very painful. Some of the chemicals include massive amounts of epinephrine from the adrenal glands otherwise known as adrenaline( causes heart rate and blood pressure to sky rocket), dopamine, nor-epinephrine, angiotensin II, Alpha and Beta agonists...etc. In fact conscious or not your body is going through a whole chemical smorgasbord of activity before death so there is nothing peaceful about it, unless like I said the person is brain dead.

how are we supposed to know? if you drown then your dead..and anyone who anwsers is most likely alive.
