I would have to say no. During those years (while there are the exceptions) you "date" people. Most never make it to the next school year nor the next part of your life. Most people actual wait until they have lived their lives or at least part of it (life being defined as adult between 25-30 who have already finished with school, in a career and whatever. Those who do get married to their sweethearts out of school face a hard time becase between 18-25 you really are learning about yourself and that can sometimes include or not include that other person.

It really depends on the couple though. Some have made it- some havent

I don't think that's true. I think however the previous generation was much more likely to marry their high school sweethearts. My parents first date was in 7th grade and my dad's 2 best friends both married women they dated in high school. They're all still together 25 years later. I dont think it happens so often anymore though. However I will be marrying the man I've been dating since freshman year of highschool soon.

Absolutely Not!

Particularly now that the average age of a first time bride is 28 years old. People don't date for 10-16 years before they get married.

I'm not sure where you heard that, but I would find it very hard to believe. I don't know too many people who married their high school sweethearts. Maybe back in the 1950's, but not today.

I would think that it is a much lower number. Counting us, I know 5 engaged couples and 4 have been together since high school. I'm glad that I'm marrying my high school sweetheart.

That is not true...most will find their fiance in adulthood. Only a small portion will marry a college/school sweetheart.

I only know two couples who have married their HS sweetheart. One couple is still together, I don't know about the other. But for only two couples to marry out of the hundreds that I know, I don't think so.

There is no percentage. You make it happen. Usually, you marry your first love because most people never get over them and say to themselves, "It's not over" even though you two broke up. Make your goals come true.

They say that by the time you are a Senior in high school you have at least met the person that you will marry.
But as with anything else.....you can't rely on statistics.
