It could be pigmentation. Black hairy tongue doesn't look like dots it looks like hair--hence the name. If your friend has dark skin it may be pigmentation. People who have naturally dark skin have pigment in their mouths as well. The pigment can show up as dark spots or dark gums Your friend should have a dentist check it though just to make sure everything is ok.

She has black, hairy tongue. It most likely from smoking or a fungal infection. She should eat organic yogurt. It should go away on its own.

yeah, she is taking to much pepto bismol. If she isn't taking any, then she has a very high level of iron and need to go to the dr.
